How inductance coils work
A closer look at inductive reactance.
An inductor develops a self-induced voltage that opposes a change in current. In an alternating-current circuit, this behavior contributes inductive reactance.
Inductive reactance is expressed as XL = 2 pi f L, where f is frequency in hertz and L is inductance in henries. Reactance is measured in ohms.
Inductors can be used as high-frequency or low-frequency choke coils, depending on their construction and the requirements of the circuit.
